Opportunities on 26th October 2024

We have vacancies on two Guild-organised events, both of which are being held on 26th October. To ensure that participants get the most out of the sessions numbers are limited, but if you are interested in either event please do get in touch.  If the events are over-subscribed we can arrange further sessions.

A voluntary donation of £3 per person is welcomed for this session.

As there are a limited number of spaces available, if you would like to attend this session, please could you let Kris know either by email: master_elect@hdgb.org or on WhatsApp: 07400 322002.

Hereford District Practice

To All Hereford District Members

Our next Open bellringing Practice for all members of Hereford District will be at Kingstone on Saturday 12th August

So come along for plenty of ringing. All levels of ringing will be given the opportunity to ring from Rounds & Call Changes, Plain Hunt, Grandsire Doubles, Bob Doubles and more complicated methods for those more experienced ringers.

Afterwards, a drink and something to eat at a local hostelry!

Hereford District Skittles Competition

It’s Holy Week next week and you probably won’t be ringing anywhere, so we are holding a Skittles Competition on Tuesday 4th April at The Barrels, St. Owen Street, Hereford starting at 7:00pm.

The District Skittles Trophy is up for grabs to the winner so why not come along and try your luck? The Barrels does not provide food but if you get hungry, we will order some pizzas from a take-away during the evening.

Desmond Ferguson

It is with sadness we announce the death of Desmond Ferguson on 16th March. He was Tower Captain at Stanton Lacy for over 60 years and Master of the Hereford Guild in 1980 – 82. Des, who was a Freeman of the Guild, learnt to ring in the early fifties and was a member of the band that rang for the Coronation of the late Queen in 1953 after the rehanging of Stanton Lacy bells.

His funeral will be held at 11.0am on 22nd April at Onibury

The past and future of ringing at Broseley

Tower Captain Ginette Pardoe has written an article called “The past and future of ringing at Broseley” which was publisted in The Ringing World in September 2022.

You can download a copy of the article here:  Broseley Ringing World article Sept 2022

Hereford District Quarter & Peal Festival

Saturday 28th May to Sunday 12th June

We are aiming to ring in as many different district towers as possible to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Please let us know if you already have something planned or would like any assistance finding extra ringers or a conductor. It is also a great time for those wishing to ring their first quarter peal.

Speak to Caroline or Nicky, your district ringing masters, who will be happy to help. Alternatively, you can send an email to Barbara, our district sectretary barbara.fox54@btinternet.com.

Once you have rung, there is an event set up on The Ringing World Bellboard for you to record it – and don’t forget to add a photo there. Please let us know too – you can add an item to your tower on this website by emailing it in to webmaster Nick Chapman at webmaster@hdgb.org.

Enjoy your ringing!
